The Stella Maris School Board meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 6.00pm.
Role of the School Board:
- to accept co-responsibility in the Church's educational mission
- to oversee pastoral planning and policy development
- to empower the community by calling forth individual and group gifts for
the benefit of that community and beyond
- to collaborate and consult stakeholders
- to vision and innovate for the future
- to discern prayerfully
- to co-ordinate shared decision-making
- to guide as a community of leaders
- to be formed and informed advisors
Specific Tasks of the Board:
- to develop, document and operate from the educational vision and mission
of the school
- to plan and develop policies to provide and maintain educational
facilities, to assist in development of the budget, to develop and improve
communication across all stakeholders, to advise in area of human resource
provision
- to operate according to the Constitution and By-Laws
- to provide pre-service training and in-service opportunities for
on-going formation of school board membership
- The activity of School Board members is best described as collaborative
ministry using the shared wisdom model of decision-making. The Board is
pastoral in nature and provides support for the Principal and the school
community.
